đŁđą Most people don't fail
at investing, they just never get started...

đ Happy Sunday!
A couple of weeks ago, my team and I spent two very full-on days at the National Entrepreneursâ Convention in Birmingham. Around 1,500 business owners in one place, all buzzing with ideas, energy and determination.
It was brilliant to speak to so many people face to face. What really struck me, though, was how many said the same thing in different ways.
You know you should be doing something about your personal finances, sorting a pension, building some independence from the business, investing for the future. But you donât know where to start.
Or worse, youâve tried, and ended up lost in a sea of conflicting advice from âexpertsâ online. Itâs enough to put anyone off.
But, it doesnât need to be complicated.
In fact, the best piece of financial advice Iâve ever given (and taken) is simply this:
Keep it simple.
Start small. If youâre a company director, pay some pension contributions directly from your business. Itâs tax-efficient, saves on corporation tax, and quietly builds your future independence.
And please donât get hung up on finding the âperfectâ investment strategy. It doesnât exist.
The people who get ahead financially arenât the ones analysing fund performance every weekend. Theyâre the ones who actually get started.
Overthinking turns into procrastination, and before you know it, another yearâs gone by and nothingâs changed.
While youâre simplifying, donât forget about risk. This is the bit most business owners prefer not to think about.
You insure your house, your car, maybe even your dog. But what about you?
What happens if youâre seriously ill or canât work for a few months? If youâre the one in the business who authorises bank payments, what happens if youâre not there?
And do you have a lasting power of attorney for your business as well as your personal finances? Itâs one of those small, boring details that suddenly matters a great deal when things go wrong.
So this week, do one small thing that moves your personal finances forward. Set up a pension contribution. Review your protection.
Or book a chat and weâll take a step back, look at the big picture and put a straightforward plan in place.
đ Book a call with me here (or if you prefer, call one of my team on 0117 9629696) and Iâll help you make sense of what youâve got and what it could be doing for you.
đ THATâS IT FOR THIS WEEK!
